I was going to post this card the other day, and found out that Blogger is changing it's Blog style April lst, so I clicked on the link to upgrade. Instant Panic! The new format was totally confusing and I thought I had lost all my daily notifications from blogs I like to follow. Plus I couldn't see where to make a new post. Yesterday afternoon, I sat down at the 'puter and did some looking through the new format. Well today, it's not quite as intimidating as I'm slowly learning to get around the site.
For anyone who has switched over, when you click on "Design" at the top right menu of your blog Homepage, you get a new page. Then if you click on the orange "My Blogs" on the top left hand side, you will be directed to your daily notifications that used to show up under the old Dashboard. It seems to take a minute to upload all the blogs. I still think the new format is too "busy" and more clicking with your mouse, but as with any changes, perhaps I'll get comfortable using it after a few weeks.
A new friend gave me a homemade gift last weekend, so I made this card to thank her. She likes butterflies.
I used Tim Holtz "Papillon" word background stamp for the stitched background layer
- Began with sponging on Shabby Shutters and Broken China DI, spritzed with Perfect Pearls Mist Blue Patina, then sponged the torn edges with Tea Dye and Walnut Stain. Stitched two rows on my sewing machine and made them wonky on purpose.
- The punched index card, torn layer is stamped with butterflies from the same stamp set, shaded with Copic markers, Antique Linen and Tea Dye sponged on the edges. Edge punch by EKSuccess.
- The flower brad was a silver one, so I used Adirondack Gold sponge dabber to paint it, sponged with Walnut Stain DI to antique it further.
-Label is Tim's small alterations die
- Background layer of butterfly is a scrap piece of BasicGrey paper cut with Memory Box "Moonlight Butterfly" die, then the top layer is cut with the coordinating Memory Box die "Kaleidoscope Butterfly" in brown brushed glitter Bazzill.
-Brown lace ribbon by Kaisercraft
-Sorry I can't say who makes the blue butterfly background paper and it is from my stash
I have a new Vintaj Big Kick machine and it cuts the Memory Box and CheeryLynn dies so easily. I guess my 8 year old Cuttlebug will be retired from now on!
I'm going to enter this card into the new challenge at Frilly and Funkie -vintage style.
