Nugget Box

Risa, on KL Stampin N Scrappin blog, made a cute little box with a circle window for nuggets, hersey kisses, or whatever else you desire to put into the box.

Tonight I made a valentine one for a friend. Click on the title of this post for the tutorial.

Thanks Risa for the inspiration, and your very easy to follow pics.

LaLa Land Crafts Challenge #23 - Gift Card Holder

I already had a gift card for my daughter for Valentine's Day, and when I saw this challenge I decided to try making a card holder. I immediately thought of a purse because she loves handbags.

The cardstock is shiny black with a herringbone stripe texture in it that I ran through a Quickutz folder called "Diamonds and Dots". I think it gives the 'purse' a look of quilted leather. I lined the purse in red flower pp, used a magnet on the clasp, made a pocket with faux stitching and brads, and hung a little lock embellie from the strap. The slots were punched with an Stampin'Up slot punch.

The template for this purse is in Cardmaker Magazine, November/09 issue.

I think it came out quite well (giving myself a little pat on the shoulder LOL)!

Scrapbook Page - Julie and Tippy Dog, Autumn

Last fall I went to a scrapbook retreat and put together a few pages as far as layouts, but didn't adhesive anything or figure out embellies. This afternoon, I finished this page of Julie when she was little, playing in the leaves. Our first dog, Tippy, was watching out for her. If she headed for the driveway, which was on a very steep hill, Tippy would gently nudge her, to head Julie back into the yard. It's funny how animals instinctively know situations that might be dangerous. Of course, I was always out in the yard with her and Tippy as well!

KLSNS Challenge #13 -Appreciate a Dragon Day

On KL Stampin N Scrappin blog, the challenge for Sat.Jan.19th was to create a card using a dragon or reptile stamp, or you can use projects resembling scales, etc. Click on title of this post to go directly to KLSNS blog. Apparently this is one of those weird holidays that happen every year on Jan.16th -appreciate a dragon! Who wouldn't have known???? LOL

While I don't own any dragon stamps, I do have a turtle stamp from Inkadinkadoo. They belong to the reptile family. So I made an alcohol ink background with turtle colours, and did a scalloped edge similiar to the scales on the turtle's shell. I also used crystal lacquer on the shell for dimension.

Supplies:
Adirondack Alcohol Inks: - Meadow, Ginger,Pesto, Stream, Expresso
SU Slot Punch (to make the scallop edge)
Inkadinkadoo Turtle & verse stamps from set "Humourous Birthdays"
Bazzill Chocolate, SU Olive, and SU Glossy paper
Sizzlet tag & narrow brown leather "ribbon"
Crystal Lacquer

Valentine: Digi Image -Girl with Basket, Boingy Hearts, and Matchbox with Acetate Cover

This is a valentine I made for a friend with a free digi image that I coloured with copic markers. I sized the image to fit on Nesties Regular Hearts, then layered that on Nesties Scallopped Hearts. I punched out three tiny hearts and inserted one in the girl's basket - the other two are popped up with pop-dots to look like they are falling from the basket.

Inside, there is a surprise! There are pink and white hearts that go "boing" when you open the card. It was fun to see the expression on my friend's face when she opened it! Kristine, of KL Stampin N Scrappin blog, had a tutorial on how to do the inside spiral pop-up, so I tried it out. It was very easy to follow. Thanks Kristine! Click on the title of this post to go direct to her blog for instructions.

I also made a little matchbox with an acetate cover which holds three chocolate Hersey nuggets to go with the card.

RAK from Wendy

I had such a nice surprise today! Jonathan stopped by at suppertime with a package for me- he's my friend Wendy's son. Inside, were two jars of loose leaf tea and a card from Wendy. The specialty teas are for colds and bronchitis; one was eucalyptus, and the other a blend of camomile, feverfew and other different herbs. I can't wait to try them out at bedtime tonight. I do believe I'm slowly getting over this nasty chest cold and cough. Had a bit of energy today and made peanut butter cookies for my hubby.

Here is the pretty card that Wendy made for me. So appropriate to go along with the loose tea! Thanks so much, my dear friend!

Multi-fold Birthday Card

This is a multi-fold card I made last week for a friend's birthday. When you untie the ribbon, the brayered image flap comes up, the pink layer folds back to the left to reveal the verse on the bottom side of the small image layer, which is adhesived (is that a word???) to the green layer. It would make more sense if you could see the inside of the card, but I forgot to take a pic of the inside in my hurry to get the card in the mail so it wouldn't be too late.
I recently got a new EK Success scallopped scallop punch which I used on the bottom edges. I think it's pretty! Also used was the Stylized Flowers Cuttlebug folder on the patterned paper.
